My husband and I visit Onam regularly and are possibly the biggest fans of their food! We have tried more or less everything on their Menu, even including North Indian dishes and everything is outstanding. We've taken our friends here and highly recommend it, the food is truly authentic (my husband is from Kerala) and the cooks are flexible to entertain requests from those who can't handle spices very well..
We've tried most South Indian, "Keralite" restaurants in London and have only gone back to this one after the first time.
We're going there again tonight and as always will over-order and get some packed to enjoy tomorrow as well! :o)
I am a regular customer at this fantastic restaurant. In an area famed for Indian cuisine (Tooting) This restaurant offers the best South Indian food in town (more specifically from the Indian state of Kerala). As a connaisseur of aubergine curries, this dish is more than highly recommended - in fact, second to none - superbly spiced, blended wirth a rich tomato accompaniment. The memory of my first taste of the bringal bhaji here is indelibly scarred on my brain. Also recommended would be the mushroom bhaji and vegetable korma - but none of the dishes are substandard. Although I am vegetarian, I have been duly informed by several meat-eaters that these dishes match the same high standards. The service is generally efficient, and the meals are excellent value for money.

Visited Onam on the basis of these reviews in a quest to allow my girlfriend to try a decent masala dosai. I'm pleased to say all the positive reviews here are spot on. The food was a real taste of Kerala and great value plus the staff were really friendly. Lamb malabar, dosais and chana masala all spot on. :-)
Tooting isn't short of South Indian restaurants but, having visited most of them, we now only go to Onam. We have tried all the vegetarian dishes and have been really impressed with everything we have eaten. Other restuarants have good individual dishes but the quality at Onam is consistently excellent and we are never disappointed. The staff are always really friendly and if you are a fan of the lighter flavours of Keralan cooking then this is the place to come. Highlights of the menu for us are the masala dosa, aubergine and dhal and spinach. Watch out for the superb festival specials too!
ONAM---One of the best Kerala restaurants not only in Tooting but in whole of London, simply because of the fact that the Food is very Authentic.. All the Chefs and rest of staff are from Kerala.We are regulars here and know this place better than anyone else.We would like to wish the team All the best for future. Keep the good work going.
